We actually did a dis service to Des who is a good guy. He wasn’t ready to be a HC, but could have been down the road. Des could have stayed on as an assistant and make whoever the new HC was going to be transition easier.
Des knows he is paid good money to win football games. Hopefully he figures it out on how to win these close games.

Agree to a certain extent. But let's be honest. The difference between Ron Roberts and Des/Leger/Morgan is light years.

Very true, Ron Roberts coaching tree is pretty impressive. Dave Aranda and Dan Lanning or Pete Golding I can’t remember which one.

Where’s all the geniuses on this board that were all in on Coach Dez ? Those that disagreed with the hire be damned. You got what you wanted. This schitt show of a football program has now been set back another 6-8 years all because it was an “easy” hire. He was the “obvious” choice. But it’s ok. We want a stadium that seats 40-45K people and they’ll all show up to watch this disaster. You’re dreaming. I’ve said it many times, the delusion on this board is scary. You don’t have to read or agree with this post but until you small percentage of fans admit to yourselves who we really are, things will never change. Some of you are so worried about what this university is called more than you care about anything else. The “name battle” that was supposedly won. You have a fetish with other state schools and what they do or don’t do as opposed to cleaning up your own house. You hate realty, you schitt rainbows and are quick to criticize other programs that this university can’t hold a candle to. Sad that 6 wins is now the gold standard. Another schitt bowl game (maybe) Yipeeee ! This weak azz schedule and this weak azz record speaks volumes about where this football program is headed. Take off the rose colored glasses.

    Salient point there.

Its not that if Napier took him it would show he was ready to be a head coach.

Rather it shows he wasn't ready to be an assest to Napier (at least in Napiers mind) and thus not yet ready for the leap frog job of being a head coach.

Man, Napier had a pretty damn good staff.

We will never know but if he ""ready and qualified"" to be a head coach" Napier would, have considered him a greater asset, and would have made an offer.

We know this by all whom he took, everyone he considered an asset.

It’s possible Napier wanted him and Florida AD said no.

    Your drop-in parachute is tangled.

I read at least 4 last night that said they were wrong about him.

This home loss stinks as much as Bustle losing badly to McNeese & Hudspeth losing badly to Latech at home. All these years later I haven't gotten those out of my head. This stinker will stick around a long time. Coaches Bustle and Hud did not compete for conference championships after those losses. Its doubtful CMD's program will either. Was understanding last year. Year two of CMD reflects we are in serious decline. Even if we win 6 games and go bowling, there's higher expectations of the football program and we shouldn't settle for less than 'competing for championships' as our athletic director likes to say. Pull the plug after the season and flush it. Why not be patient? Because beginning next year we finally have a chance to become eligible for the college football playoff. Instead we're screwing around losing football games over and over we have no business losing. We need to get someone in here that can get us to the CFP, period. We shouldn't settle for anything less.

When Napier was hired Maggard told him Des and Troy is being retained and to find them a spot. Napier never would have offer Des a job at UF.

Sorry I don’t buy this. Napier openly vouched for Des to take over the program when he was leaving. Maggard said this himself. You don’t do that for someone you wouldn’t want on your team.
