How do we know Napier didn’t ask Dez to come with him? We really don’t know the sequence of events. Dez has young kids, maybe he wants them to grow up near their grandparents.
That doesn’t mean he should have been made head coach, but I really don’t think we can read much into him not going be an assistant for Napier.
LoL. Ok my guy. Let's try again. If he was ready and qualified to be a head coach, then Napier still would have tried to bring him to Florida. He wasnt qualified for a coach OR coordinator. However you wanna twist that argument, the point is still lost on you. It's Ok. Take your time and think on it.
Someone posed a really good question on the pod last night. Two years ago, what other FBS program would have hired Des as a head coach?
I don't think anyone reading this forum can name one program. Now, this is not a shot at Des at all. But it is a very good question.
Not a bad point, though I don't even know who needed a coach two seasons ago. And to be fair, would other programs even know who he was? If you're not hired because someone doesn't know you exist, that's different than if a bunch of schools are looking at your resume and think you're unqualified.
Ron Roberts left Louisiana and went to Baylor. He was there three seasons and got fired. How long did it take him to find a job? About two weeks. Hugh Freeze hired him to be Auburn's defensive coordinator.
Most of our coaches will get snapped up just as quickly when we fire them next month. They couldn't get it done here, but they will get it done somewhere else. Wish them luck!
