Don’t think that is what he was implying. It’s painfully obvious that Des isn’t ready, but he COULD have been ready later on in his career after getting more experience other places.

How many college head coaches have you seen bomb at their first head coaching opportunity, get fired, and make their way all the way back to another head coaching opportunity? Most of the time, they end up as a washed up high school coach somewhere.

Maggard knew how to hire a successful coach, and ignored his past accomplishments by thinking too much. He and Savoie screwed up. He still won’t know until over a year fom now. Sad.

You really believe that Maggard -- the guy that was, to that point, ultra-aggressive when it came to football spending-- suddenly decided on his own to hire the safest possible person for the job that only months earlier he was prepared to pay someone $2m+ for ?

Against USM 4 of 15 on third down and 2 of 5 on fourth down.

As bad as 73% failure was in third down, 2 of 5 on fourth down didn't need to happen.

Take the points, go home a winner, bowl eligible, winning by 6.

Just like going for 2, way early in the game vs ODU, let the game play out before you make drastic calls.

Offensive yardage was 390 apiece last night but USM was 9 of 18 on third down but again, that's not where they won the game.
