UL Football Time to Turn the Page its USM week

its time to turn the page, put last week behind us and get ready for usm. They are coming off of a win against bottom dweller ulm, which will give them a little pep in their step. but doesn't take any heat off of coach Hall. Also their fan base is fed up with the regression that they have made in the past couple of years.

On our side we need to show up for the team and the students need to be loud and fill up the student sections. USM should bring some fans, and the one's that I have met and had interactions with are the type of fans that a school wants and aren't the _______s that some our peers have.

Lets get behind a good positive week, our team, our students, coaches and fans deserve that and lets get some buts in the seats, especially since some of the games last weekend only had a couple of thousand people in the stands which is a disgrace.

Looking at talent level on both teams......This Thursday "should" go like the UAB game......less the last 5 minutes. Outside of Gore Jr (an absolute beast), we're just better.

this is a big game in my household since my daughter is a senior at usm and her boyfriend is a graduate student who is in sports management and journalism and works for the athletic department at usm. He had a sports podcast each week with 3 other students for all of his undergraduate years and was on the school paper staff covering all sports. Now he covers womens volleyball and some football as a sid for the department. They aren't making this game, but if we lose I'm sure that my phone will be blowing up right after the game.

Page turned. Now we are very close to closing the book on the season. Team / Coaches that waste their time reading this board, prove me wrong.

I fear we need to find some offense somewhere. Zeon had been generating offense. Ben did at times also. Some stats:

    Zeon this season:
    66.7% completion percentage
    7.98 yds/att; 11.98 yds/comp
    11 TDs vs 5 INTs
    492 rush yards at 6.74/att
    6 TDs

    Ben this season before injury:
    56.5 %
    7.36 yds/att; 13.02 yds/comp
    5 TDs vs 1 INT
    77 rush yards at 4.53/att
    2 TDs

Last season Ben was at 56.5%, 6.80yds/att
    12.04 yds/comp
    15 TDs vs 5 INTs
    188 rush yards at 3.92/att
    2 TDs

    Now Chandler last season:
    58.2%
    6.17 yds/att
    10.59 yds/comp
    11 TDs vs 4 INTs
    87 rushing yards at 2.42 yds/att
    2 TDs

His stats passing wise in his limited action this season are very similar to last year, thought 0 TDs vs 2 INTs.

Chandler has been said to have a really good arm, and I’m not doubting that. He may be the most accurate overall passer of the three QBs. However, looking at his yards per pass attempt, yards per completion, then factoring his rushing ability vs the other two, it seems Chandler is hasn’t yet in his career been as much of an offensive generator as Ben and Zeon have. Hopefully he can become that Thursday night. If not, we probably should play Lunch and see what his legs can do for us trying to move the football.

Sorry...but CF will limit our offense. If they can generate any pass rush, we'll be in trouble. If our OL doesn't do a better job run blocking, we'll be in trouble. I think our Defense will rebound this week and tackle better and get pressure on their QB, but, this game has me worried. I hope they get Lunch ready and if things are not going well early in the game, give him a shot rather than waiting for things to start clicking with CF.

Also, hoped they watched the GSU coach post game rant. Embarassing is the key word for both teams this past weekend.

I certainly don't have any real college football experience, but it just seems to me that given the skill sets of the two QBs, you need a different gameplan and offensive philosophy with Fields as your QB vs. Zeon. Probably even different than if Wooldridge was the QB.

How much of that can be accomplished and executed in a five day window?

Chandler is going to run the same plays he did all of last season and this August camp and season. Several reports came out of august camp that said he was looking the best and having the best camp.

He needs to take care of the football. 2 turnovers in 3 possessions is not a good omen.

Agree, they cannot change the offense for him now. They will need to run the football for the Cajuns to have a chance, something they couldn't do last week and against Georgia St.

My concern for Fields is the same thing he showed in the game coming off the bench. At this stage he still has a tendency to lock on one receiver and force the football into coverage.

Run the football and protect the football.
