Nope, I haven’t been to a game since the 2nd roster turnover.

I am not on the Bob Marlin train. Right or wrong, I won’t participate.

I’m rapidly becoming a spring sports fan and about to just forget the fall sports.

I knew the answer already. It’s just funny that someone who doesn’t attend games and actively roots against our basketball program has the nerve to talk down on our attendance.

Stating facts isn’t talking down. I don’t root against the program, I simply do not support it.

I have expectations, maybe you should as well. My expectations are to make the NCAA tournament every year. Bob Marlin has accomplished that 2 times in 13 years. So attendance and his tournament birth average in his tenure are about the same.

I expect every major sport to compete for SBC Titles annually. It shouldn’t be a rarity. If we aren’t there are two issues, lack of institutional support for that sport, or poor coaching. It’s that simple.

    I don’t support poor coaching.

Overall turnout was not good but student support was fine.

Very difficult to make the NCAA tournament EVERY year. Some blue blood programs don't do that. Now expecting to challenge for a championship most years is very reasonable. Generally being in the top 4 in the league 90 percent of the time indicates you are doing that. Granted we have not done that consistently enough. Perhaps this season we can have back to back strong finishes. We may have rebounding issues and inside scoring problems. However the defense we have seen to date from the squad indicates it is possible.

Mike, I’m not saying they would win it every year. But I expect them too. There is absolutely no reason we shouldn’t expect to win the league every year.

Anything outside of the top 3 is a failure for what we spend on the program. The facilities and operating budget.

Also Ron Hunter went to 3 dances in 7 years (and I think 2 NITs) and actually won a game in his last run.

Absolutely zero reason why we are not the standard of basketball in this league.

For being the defending champs, the turnout was terrible for opening night.

Take a look at other mid major opening night attendances

    VCU - SELL OUT ( 7,500 )
    Grand Canyon - SELL OUT ( 7,200 )
    UCF - ( 6,500 )
    Wich St - ( 6,200 )
    Charleston - ( 5,300 )
    Marshal - ( 4,500 )
    Siena - ( 4,500 )
    Toledo - ( 4,300 )
    Western K - ( 3,900 )
    UTEP - ( 3,800 )
    Liberty - ( 3,500 )
    Middle T - ( 3,500 )

Let them lose a few games and watch the turnout tank.

    CAA Division I[edit]
See also: NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament, and List of NCAA Division I men's basketball champions
In 2023–24, a total of 362 schools (including those transitioning from a lower NCAA division to Division I) will play men's basketball in 32 Division I basketball conferences. All of these schools also sponsor women's basketball except The Citadel and VMI, two military colleges that were all-male until the 1990s and remain overwhelmingly male today.

    The conferences for 2023–24 are

A map of all NCAA Division I basketball teams
    America East Conference
    American Athletic Conference
    Atlantic 10 Conference
    Atlantic Coast Conference
    Atlantic Sun Conference
    Big 12 Conference
    Big East Conference
    Big Sky Conference
    Big South Conference
    Big Ten Conference
    Big West Conference
    Coastal Athletic Association
    Conference USA
    Horizon League
    Ivy League
    Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
    Mid-American Conference
    Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
    Missouri Valley Conference
    Mountain West Conference
    Northeast Conference
    Ohio Valley Conference
Pac-12 Conference – Likely to disband after the 2023–24 season, with 10 of its 12 members moving to other conferences after the season.
    Patriot League
    Southeastern Conference
    Southern Conference
    Southland Conference
    Southwestern Athletic Conference
    Sun Belt Conference
    Summit League
    West Coast Conference
    Western Athletic Conference

. . . So, every year we are expected to win our conference tournament or to be in the field of 36 granted a bid . . . looks more like somebody who just doesn’t like our coach than rational thinking . . .

We won the sun belt in 00 and had the majority of the people come back the next year. We opened against Ohio state in the dome. I believe Michael redd was on that team. We didn’t have more than 3K. The point is that nobody gives a crap about basketball until football is over with.
