Courtney absolutely signed on scholarship. Then he saw the sinking ship with Jerry Baldwin as the head coach and decided to dedicate himself fulltime to his nursing career.

That is true, Babb was a big deal signee, partially because how rare it was to get players from his high school.

There's various reasons behind that, and several that are UL/USL self-inflicted. Fortunately, it seems that relationship is being repaired.
