Real talk though. If you have a player that can get a full ride academically and are honest with them that they'll be treated as a scholarship player, a coach would be dumb not to take advantage. If Hebert was butthurt because he didn't get an athletic scholarship (caveat that an honest conversation did happen) and he wasn't willing to give it up to another player who needed it, good riddance. Team players win championships.

Keep in mind TOPS does not cover student fees which became a bigger and bigger part of the overall tuition when I had kids in college. (over $1,000.00 per semester last I saw).

Now maybe the school can waive these fees, but I don't know.

I think you nailed it. Which in my opinion isn’t right, if you’re a D1 scholarship level player you deserve a scholarship. I heard Griffin Hebert went to Tech because UL only offered a preferred walkon.
