Sooooo many directions this could go.
None good for college athletics
This could be the end of college athletics. I think most universities would just say, that's it I'm out.
How long before this line of thinking affects academic endeavors?
Patents, endowements, student research grants.
Paying for an education is different but when the University makes huge profits off the students some, might wamt a return on their investment.
Athletes having a required "Pay to Play" (with hope of a, NIL return) might be the only option for amateur organizations.
Seems it should be way more than that
Welcome to the new College football. Lawsuits, Gambling, Pay for Play. Greedy Lawyers involved in every avenue.
That is what Money does.
Until they have some kinda governing, limits, and contracts on NIL this will continue. It is like the wild wild west.
Do they have time for class?
All those losers who portal'd out to P5 bench spots are about to get some class-action payday aren't they...
Would be ironic if they get paid but still have student loans that aren't repaid
Isn't college supposed to teach?

Pay for play, cancel scholarships?
NFL uses revenue sharing....48.8%. Apply this to P5 contract revenues back thru 2016 as law suit states and most SEC schools would be on the hook for a half billion +/-
. . . it’s what happens when the heavy hands abuse the kids within their grasps and finally get caught . . . now they can just pay up for being forever greedy . . . when one has abused for years, not sure SHARING is in the cards . . .
