I think without the loss of Zeon this could possibly have been just a one game letdown. I see two possible wins now left on our schedule, and we will have to scrap and claw for each one.
An interesting note on the letdown though. People like to mention that CBN coached a lot of close games in his tenure here. What NEVER happened under Billy was a blowout loss in conference. The biggest margin of victory for an opponent was App in 2017 in the CCG by 11. He had a couple other losses by 10. Des has been blown out twice in conference in a season and a half of conference play. It's concerning that both big losses came in games that never should have been decisive losses (USM last year and today). Des will get PLENTY of time to prove himself, but so far he has not shown he can prepare a team on a week to week basis or get his teams to play 4 quarters consistently.
The conference season is only 8 games. There should never be a letdown game in that timeframe where we don't bother to show up. Losses are one thing. Games we lose before the ball is set down because we aren't ready to go is a much bigger issue.
Alright. Enough of the freakin’ pity party!
We’ve got a few games left. This season ain’t over. Now is the time to suck it up and fight harder.
Get your rear ends in gear people. Finish up strong!
Well if recent past history is any indicator we're due for a win Thursday.
I'm trending in the Dez approach is killing us and was a wrong hire.... hard to accept that being I wanted it to work out for one of our good guys...
I tip my hat to Arkansas State, they outcoached and outplayed us. Winning the west and playing for a conference championship were goals in front of us and that didn't translate to how we played today.
27 carries for 64 yards won't win us many football games. Our three remaining opponents will challenge us to throw the ball. With the loss of Zeon, little depth at QB, and an inconsistent defense, do we get to six wins?
ODU, GaSt and now stAte. That’s 3 clunkers. This team is easily the most talented in the SBC West. It’s not even particularly close either.
There is not a single staff in the SBC that couldn’t take this team and beat their own team by 10 or more.
For the record, I supported the hire, they do great things in certain aspects of the game. But we are not a historically successful program, so slipping up a season or two can kill any momentum this program had had over the last 15 years. I know we have another year with this staff at a minimum, but if they don’t win at least 9 games we are in a serious bind.
God forbid USM actually get rolling again. They will own the north shore and we will be looking a lot like stAte has the last few years. Consistently under achieving. Make no mistake, we’ve been beaten in the field one time this year, Minnesota, every other game we’ve lost. There is a difference and it’s starting to show.
The sun came up. I got an extra hour of sleep. We have a huge game this Thursday night vs. USM who we have not beat them since 1993. 20 years!!!!!!!!
I will be there with my crew. Lets get to 6 wins this Thursday! The goal now is to get to a bowl and actually win it which would mean that we have more wins than last year. We have to show some improvement on our win total for the sake of the program.
