Bribing the cheap media
Barnes and Noble took over the Bookstore and what used to be the store at Blackham and the old employees left. Service went down, prices went up, the number of students you see wearing Walmart LSU shirts is higher than ever.
This university has no clue about marketing itself.
I would say Barnes and Noble has no clue about marketing this university.. nor should they.
This is another example of the university off-loading or outsourcing what they see as a pain point.
Merch sales, food sales, ticket sales, etc are all opportunities to interact with and ingratiate yourself to the fans, and we work to sign deals to have someone outside the university do that for us.
The following are listed on barnes and noble site:
Delgado
Grambling
LaTech
ULM
Nicholls
Lswho
LSU-A
LSU-Shrv
Makes you wonder if this might have been a higher level decision than martin hall?
Check notes: we are not listed on the barnes and noble website
USM also is Barnes & Noble and knowing what I pay for merchandise there for my daughter prices are very similar to UL prices.
Now at MSU there are several outlets that sell merchandise, and you can hit lots of price points, but there are probably 3 or 4 outlets near campus that sell nothing but MSU gear. Flip side if you want a hotel room in Starkvegas be prepared to dish out some cash. Paid over $200 a night for move in weekend at a Comfort Suites, so you can imagine what football weekend rates look like
