I flew to Atlanta on six occasions during the Maddox, Glavine, Chipper Jones, Andrew Jones, Smoltz and Avery era; never saw more Brave jerseys than Astros.

But is interesting that you mention the Astros prior to 2017. I can remember a time when no one ever wore a Brave jersey in Lafayette while Atlanta had such vaunted players like Biff Pocoroba, Glenn Hubbard, Roland Office and Phil Neikro.
I'm 38 and absolutely a product of Ted Turner's TBS days. It's indisputable that, for the 40 and under demographic, social media posts from "diehard" Astros fans went from nonexistent to overbearing in and around the 2017 season.

Mostly agree on this. I’ve always had a very simple test to determine a diehard Astros fan. Ask them who Brandon Backe is. Or what team JD Martinez came up with. Or any comparable question. If no answer, you aren’t a diehard.

Another simple question is which team took a payout to go crawling into another league after failing in the NL

What is the significance of the mode of transit?

You saw less braves jerseys in Atlanta than astros jerseys in Atlanta or lafayette?

No fans of the 1927 Yankees wore jerseys to the games

Backe was great until that wedding party.

Right? Dude just randomly switched to pitcher while in the minors and was great.

I won't dispute that; the exception would be my kids that where raised Astro's fans. It wasn't any different when it came to the Brave's teams after the era of Aaron, Evans, Baker and Cepeda. No one in this area really cared about them until the Maddox, Glavine, Jones and the rest of that team that played in 8 straight NLCS. That's usually the way it works.

Brave fans are also the parents of kids of the 80’s. Sitting up with sick babies in the recliner, TBS would sometimes do replays. Captain Bob Horner, Dale Murphy and the guys were a staple for early AM tv viewing.
