Northwestern State Football Cancels Season

A LC reporter was on the radio today implying there’s a lot more. Possibly even coaches not showing up to practice for safety concerns.

A player called his parents that his roommate in a school supplied living arrangement pulled a gun on him. The dad called the coach, who did nothing and then the kid was murdered.

They could have been in the BCS playoffs and that season was getting cancelled.

Yeah, just read the latest article... yikes, what a horrible situation. Why the heck did they put a student athlete in an apartment with a roommate that isn't even a student?

I still think that had this happened at top tier P5 school, they would not have shut the program down for the rest of the year, which is really sad. They would have dismissed the coach and any player associated with the situation, named an interim coach, and kept playing.

well in defense of the p5 they wouldnt have been so strapped for cash that everyone had to have a roommate, they likely would have found a more expensive single residence

Not to mention the other schools on their schedule that now don't have a game to play. Could come down to 1 or more schools not making a bowl game because of it.

They only had FCS (Southland) games left. FCS schools are not eligible for bowl games only the FCS playoffs. I guess it could affect a playoff berth however, but besides Incarnate Word, no one left on their schedule was going to make the FCS playoffs. Sad part is those young men on NSU and on the other teams only have so many college football games to play in their careers. Just a sad situation all the way around.

McNeese picked up their "win" of the season this weekend as a result of the forfeit . Now 1-7 on the season
