ARMY to join the AAC

Looks like this is happening. This only makes sense, the next question is does the AAC move to get UCONN in to get them to a total of 16 (currently this would make them 15). You could split the AAC to 2 divisions (East and West), East being USF, Temple, ECU, FAU, Charlotte, Navy, Army and UCONN and the West being UAB, Tulane, SMU, Tulsa, UNT, UTSA, Rice and Memphis.

This would leave only ND (who has a partnership with the ACC) and then UMASS as the only remaining independents in FBS football.

Army and the American Athletic Conference are in deep negotiations that could be complete in the “coming weeks,” AAC commissioner Mike Aresco tells @YahooSports.

Also, UCONN paid a premium to get out of the AAC so they could be in the Big East for basketball.
