Thread: ARMY to join the AAC

  1. #1

UL Football Army to the AAC?

Looks like this is happening. This only makes sense, the next question is does the AAC move to get UCONN in to get them to a total of 16 (currently this would make them 15). You could split the AAC to 2 divisions (East and West), East being USF, Temple, ECU, FAU, Charlotte, Navy, Army and UCONN and the West being UAB, Tulane, SMU, Tulsa, UNT, UTSA, Rice and Memphis.

This would leave only ND (who has a partnership with the ACC) and then UMASS as the only remaining independents in FBS football.

SMU will be moving to the ACC next year.

And the Army/Navy game will NOT count as a conference game. Really dumb.

Interesting if UCONN would join to set up some interesting, forced rivalries.

    EAST
    USF/FAU
    ECU/Charlotte
    Army/Navy
    Temple/UCONN

    WEST
    UTSA/RICE
    SMU/UNT
    UAB/MEMPHIS
Tulane/Tulsa (Tulane/Tulsa is a little bit of a stretch, but both are private schools and the only two left.).

SMU will not be a member next year.

Yeah…the American is reaching. They have become a cellar dweller conference, and Army won’t help.

That would get them back to 14 and no need for UCONN.

The SBC is a MUCH deeper conference.

With it looking like ACC teams will be leaving for the SEC or BG10, where will the ACC pull from?

Also, UCONN paid a premium to get out of the AAC so they could be in the Big East for basketball.
