    I honestly don’t think Army is a bad addition. Just don’t like the terms.

    Army to AAC

    "The American Athletic Conference has voted to add Army into the league as a football-only member, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel on Wednesday, with the sides working toward the Black Knights joining in 2024."

    Army will serve as a replacement for SMU, which is joining the ACC next year, to keep the AAC at 14 teams.

    Why are some schools allowed to be football only but that is not a consideration for others? Either it is a policy or it isnt

    It official. Army to join the AAC for football only starting in 2024, ending a 19 year run as an Independent and joining Navy in the conference. The Army - Navy game will still be played on Dec. 2 as a non-conference game. Army will remain in the following conferences for all other sports:

    Conferences: Patriot League (baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, men's lacrosse, swimming & diving, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, volleyball, women's lacrosse), Atlantic Hockey (hockey), Great America Rifle Conference (rifle), Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (gymnastics), Collegiate Sprint Football League (sprint football), Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (wrestling)
