2024 Baseball Schedule

A 34-game home slate, featuring weekend series against NCAA Regional participants Wright State, Tulane and Southern Miss, a trip to Minute Maid Park for games against Vanderbilt, LSU and Houston in the Astros Foundation College Classic, and a 30-game Sun Belt Conference schedule are part of the 2024 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball schedule which was released on Tuesday.

No but I'm guessing the conflicts will be fewer this year than most.

Yes, on paper. There are 17 programs that played in the regionals. Wright State is solid and I fully expect Tulane and Rice to be much better. Conference home series against USM, USA, Old Dominion and Marshall.

Last year is exactly that, last year. SWAC teams play at LSU and other programs in the SEC. Guess what, they play here for Softball as well. We play CC, Troy, Texas St, Vanderbilt, Houston, LSU (twice) all on the road. The RPI games are there and we have to win a few.

are you saying we shouldnt schedule rice and tulane? or just that no matter what, you wont be happy unless its home series against lsu, texas a&m, ole miss, and arkansas?

SWAC teams play at SEC programs because SEC programs are playing almost exclusively Top 25 RPI teams when they enter conference play. We are not doing that. Robe understood the importance of getting these programs off the schedule, and there were years we didn’t play any. Last year was 3 and this year is 4. If we think it’s wise to have 4 guaranteed sub 250 home games on the schedule plus another likely, we’ll have to live with that.

Last year is last year which is why I said I sure hope those teams improve this year. Rice was awful yet again and Tulane was even worse, aside from the miracle they pulled off in their conference tournament.

So not being happy with 4 SWAC games equates to only being happy with SEC programs on the home schedule? That’s some solid logic there.

Those are games of interest for most Louisiana fans so down or not it is a plus having them on the schedule.
