If you were any player on the Cajun Football team that could leave and go to a P5 school and get playing time, why would you stay here? The coaching staff has had two years to see what they could do, and the answer is "not much". The young man from Catholic of Baton Rouge will come here, then transfer to a P5 school for 2 or 3 years after showing how talented he is as a Cajun. Get used to it, this will be the future of Ragin Cajun Football and Ragin Cajun Basketball.

I'm sure the pitch we give our players considering transferring is something like this:

Our staff has put players in the NFL. You aren't guaranteed playing time when you transfer, no matter how much NIL money and ass-kissing the tampering parties do (let me tell you the tragic story of JB). The relationships you have built with teammates, staff, and community aren't going with you. Let us see what we can put together for you NIL-wise. I may not be as much, but you won't have all the uncertainties you face going into an unknown situation.

I'm still struggling with this whole NIL thing. Apparently a college team can pay any "unlimited" amount of money to a college student for playing sports; after all of these years where even giving them a T shirt could get you in trouble. Well, if this is the way it is now, shouldn't there be at least a salary cap like in the NFL? Whose idea was this anyway?

This is reality for all G5 programs unfortunately, not just the Cajuns.

Were those the same people who said exactly the same thing about Gauthier, and recently ZC?

Bustle was a loyalist to Babb when he was too timid to run after injury. He was a loyalist to Des when Des was injured but still playing. Bustle couldn’t make the move off of Masson even though everyone could see the burst the team got when McGuire played. I could see Des having a real hard time sticking a 6th year senior on the bench.
I think you may be right. Look at what happened at the start of this season. Zeon took all the snaps in Spring and many people said he impressed and yet Des still started Ben who was coming off an injury and barely had Fall camp to prepare.

Can add Broadway to that list

What a stupid game we have created. Thanks Ed O’Bannon for destroying collegiate sports.
The problem isn't O'Bannon and other athletes wanting to be compensated. The problem comes with the fact that those in charge didn't place any parameters when they decided to make the change. Then the NCAA continues to allow them to run wild and do anything they want to create a wider gulf of separation.

Could be the NCAA institution deciding to let the animals run the zoo. At some point they come crawling back needing a zoo keeper. The NCAA then tells Congress we need some antitrust legislation relief to manage this out of control situation.

Have contracts with buyouts been discussed?
