Despite the fact that he's leaving us, I think Zeon is a standup guy. Based on that alone, I think he deserves any success he gets going forward. Could the timing of his have announcement been better? Absolutely and it probably won't ever sit right with me. That all said, he doesn't deserve the vitriol people have been throwing at him across social media.
As much as I wish he would have stayed, I get his decision. I love UL and I'm always going to be a diehard fan but even I can't guarantee I wouldn't take the opportunity if it was presented to me.
For all the people trying to act like this means nothing, consider this:
He's played less than ten games here and started only six. He finished with a 3-3 record as a starter and is currently laid up with a broken leg and still got poached. If that's not a testament to his talent and potential I don't know what is.
Sure, I wish him success. Sadly, in many instances these kids are being pushed by parents and family because they have attached their economic futures to them. Rightly, or wrongly there is a tremendous amount of pressure put on these kids to bring money to their families.
This has been the case for many years, before the NIL. But it was all done under the table by payments, houses, cars and jobs for parents. My problem is with these so-called middle people (agents) that are suppose to be helping these athletes put together NIL deals. Unfortunately, these three individuals weren't negotiating with ALLONS, but pimping him to the highest bidder. They are no different than many of these 7-on-7 coaches and organizers in trying to make money by pushing kids to certain programs.
I hope the State Legislature will look at these supposed agents more closely and create a more thorough, review, licensing and required CE process. As for these 3 that are said to be involved, the athletic department should not let these people anywhere near campus or any fundraising function. It they do not address this aggressively, it's on them.
I don't know how to post images here but there were people basically cursing him out, and people saying negative stuff about him posting Bible verses and saying stuff under his post wherein he said he wasn't chasing money. As far as "fake scriptures" that's definitely a thing too.
Mirror image of the loser LSU fans I like to make fun of. "Grown adults" cussing out an athlete on social media for where they decide to play a sport. You can be upset at the situation. You can feel betrayed. But when you take to that, I'd say with even a professional athlete, and you're 21 or older, I'm going to call you a LOSER.
I like the idea of contracts with the players, if this were possible. Somehow to protect the Universities that are developing the players and then if they leave, there could be some kind of compensation to the schools. Probably won't happen, but something needs to be done.
