I can tell you that someone I know in Lutcher who I trust said he’s very smart, and yes he can pass the ball. He’s more accurate than BW. The person in Lutcher also spoke highly about his maturity, leadership, and being a good person.

Now this person is very familiar with athletes mental and physical qualities. His son reached a very elite status in baseball at LSU and minor leagues.

16 page thread about a kid that doesn't want to be here anymore. I'd rather hear about the guys that are still on the team.

Name the last effective QB we’ve had that wasn’t mobile. We typically don’t have the protection needed. We have to have a guy that can run and evade pressure. A sack is a drive killer.

I guess I could have looked at his stats. Over 2400 yds rushing his senior year. Pretty impressive passing stats as well.

This is precisely the problem with local recruiting. My only thought is that there must be local guys out there who aren’t good enough to play for LSU but they are good enough to provide a spark to UL. Right?

lol we have always recruited locally. There are just some here that think their favorite player from local schools should get a scholarship from UL even though no other D1 programs will give them one, under some delusional idea that will lead to more fan attendance.

“Little jimmy rushed for 1500 yards for river ranch prep, he MUST be UL material! He’s a hard worker! He gives 120%!”

I agree with you that UL shouldn’t just hand out scholarships to kids because they are local. My point was more about the false dichotomy between UL and LSU local recruiting—as if kids must pick one or the other and they’ll usually pick LSU. If a kid can play for both, I agree that they will usually pick LSU, but there have to be kids who are good enough to contribute at UL but who can’t get offered by LSU.

I can tell you from 2 people I talk to on a regular basis, who were on the practice field every day last fall with Lunch, they said he is struggling to pick up the offense, make the right decisions, and throw the football at this level.
