I'm not a HS football fan, but one of the rare times I have ever seen STM play (against my school), they had about 500 kids dressed out on the sidelines to my school's seemingly 50. Probably doesn't hurt.

That might be the case, but 478 of those players remained on the sideline. You're only as good as your best players. Somehow STM just beat LCA who had a whole slew of high level talent. Maybe it's the coaching. I really don't know.

Yes. But there is a reason that schools that have 1500 students to pick from aren’t in districts with schools that have 300 students.

I agree he is talented, I disagree that he is as good as you guys are making him out to be. I also believe Des told him he had to compete next year with Ben and probably Chandler. He probably didn’t like that. I don’t believe he did enough this year to guarantee him the spot as QB1.

I believe you all will be surprised at how good of stats either Ben or Chandler will put up next year if either can make it a whole year without getting injured. I bet either of them breaks school records for single season yards and tds. And they will mentor the young guys behind them to get ready for the future.

If you took LCA players and gave them to STM coaches and STM players and gave them to LCA coaches for a calendar year. The STM coaches would win by 4 touch downs. That’s how much of a difference coaching makes in high school football and that’s the difference in the 3 times I’ve seen them play.

Look, if y'all like the Deuce Wallace, Dalen Cambre type of athlete...STM has a couple in every grade, every year.
The overachieving athletes...hardworking...good grades...etc. Those types of players are the cornerstone of stm's success. And IMO the best high school coaching staff in Louisiana, if not the country.

That’s a two way street. They say they want us to look at their players (I have no issue with this), but then when they have a stud we are back to just being the local school and not even considered. When you only want us to consider your guys who aren’t getting looks at the D1 level elsewhere but then funnel your top level guys to P5s, is that really something we should be interested in? Look at the guys we’ve gotten in baseball where we were their fall back after it didn’t work out in BR.

We definitely have missed on some local talent though with success at the G5 level. The wide out for Tech comes to mind.
