We have to use the portal, either you want to be here or not. As a coach you gonna have to pick up kids that are transferring out.

Same with kids that are leaving. Okay we may lose 10 guys to the portal okay well we either have to go after high school recruits or go get them in the portal.

This is the 3rd go around with nil/the portal for football. A lot less reaction to losing talent. It’s expected.

We were 3-3 with Zeon as starter. Best win was Texas State. Worst loss was the home loss to Georgia State also the game was already lost when he was hurt at stAte.. it would be wise for us to re-watch those last 2 ....I see the upside but he was a long long long way from being an SEC ready player.

I would go watch all our games with the other QB's. His talent level is eons ahead of the other 2 that played.

If he ends up going to another Tulane or Liberty type program like the guys we lost last year, my opinion will change. If we are losing guys to P5s like Amos, Johnson, and Torrence, I will be encouraged. You’ve got no chance at stopping that type of poaching. Not gonna throw the baby out with the bath water though because it happens. Again if we can’t stop from being poached by CUSA and American teams I’ll concede that it seems hopeless.

He’s been having schools, or at least their agents/boosters/collectives reaching out to him for months while enrolled in a university and not in the portal. Isn’t that illegal even if it’s done through an “agent?”

It’s hard to even appreciate a recruiting class. There was always defections before NIL and portal. Now, if 1/3 stay for 4-5 years I’d be surprised. If it’s significantly more than that, we likely missed on recruiting. It’s a new age. We will have a good year here and there but will constantly be rebuilding.
