UL can't compete with those options.

Unfortunately, the kid could not beat out the local Houston area kid who was arguably the #1 HS QB prospect in the country who transferred in from Texas A&M and had Houston ranked as a Top 20 team.

I don't see the problem? The kid gets one more opportunity to seek starter reps before moving on with his life.

Best of luck to Zeon and enjoyed the highlights of him as a Cajun. Always rooting for the kid.
    +1

If one does not understand this it is because they refuse to understand it - kind of like TDS

If Zeon had stayed at Louisiana and honed his craft can you imagine the value of his 2026 portal payday as a program saver?

    Quick bucks create lame ducks.

He either knew he couldn't win the starting job at Houston or ran out of money and needed to go home. I'm sure southern has some deep pocket grifters that can throw some $$ his way. He ends up being the hard lesson learned model for the majority of portalettes!

or even maybe the NIL deals which would be out there at this juncture to capitalize upon . . .

    Agree.

A successful three year starter at Louisiana (before bolting) would make far more money in overall in NIL bucks than a one year starter freshman who portaled and ended up mostly riding the bench.

Maybe some players just like getting new gear all the time...
I remember at some offices, certain people were always moving around....it always seemed like when someone is about to move they have less to do while they prepare to transition, leaving everyone else busy at crunchtime, then thwy always have a so called honeymoon period to learn new position. So some people just always move and do way less work

Nothing like getting "new gear" from an NFL career.

Premature NIL is like being happy (for life) with a coloring book.

The NIL agents paint a pretty picture that you can't even hang on your wall.

And unless you're early career where it's part of a company initiated learning process, then it's probably not a good sign if you're constantly moving, or being voluntold to move.
