Umm, we are the Cajuns from Louisiana. Are you suggesting we change our identity to Gators from Louisiana?

What change of identity? Think of it this way:

Alabama Crimson Tide - Elephant mascot
Tulane Green Wave - Pelican mascot
Louisiana Ragin Cajuns - Gator mascot

. . . we really could do some neat things with the Gator . . . the love ones and the mascot uniform . . . kids and adults alike would just love them . . . they are all over Cajun country and most of the people who make a living from the gator in Louisiana could not be more Cajun . . . gators in Louisiana live in the most Cajun of areas, including on our campus . . . how have we missed this opportunity for so long . . . besides are the Phillies fans all Fanatics . . . Look at that thing . . . but one of the greatest mascots in the history of mascots . . .

Yeah, we can't do it because Florida does it. Sort of like Clemson and LSU. Both have tiger mascots, both play "Hold that Tiger" (so does Memphis), and both play in "Death Valley" stadiums. God forbid we do the basic things you would do with a Gator mascot, especially when only Florida and Louisiana are the ONLY schools with that mascot. Who cares?
