Nothing to do with Ruston really, they are the closest edition of a watered down mascot that's overused nationwide.

I'm thinking since we simply can't put our black alligators with no names into the back of a van and drop 'em off in our other Swamp, a live video feed would be original. Every time we hit a 3, somebody throws them a turkey leg, hit a 6, we throw 'em a live chicken, and the live feed sends the action to CF.

Truer words have never been spoken. Can't put more than 18,000 in the stands for football but yet worried about what people call the school along with the fetish with other universities tells you all you need to know.

And this obsession with La. Tech is hilarious. You think those people up north give two
_ _ _ KS about what this fanbase thinks about them ? We're quick to make fun of, criticize, and belittle other schools yet we can't clean up our own house.

I do believe it was an English Bulldog which made no sense for a university located in the heart of French Louisiana. The Swamp and Gator represent the history and tradition of UL. Not a pepper or a ridiculous Cayenne, or a Cajun Chicken or an English Bulldog.

I think the general perception of UL is, indeed, pretty clear. People think that UL is plagued by self-esteem issues. Where do those issues come from? Most of the the things regularly mentioned here--poor fan attendance, lack of student passion, mediocre athletic success, relatively small budgets, etc.

The best way to counteract this perception is to stop feeding it. Quit comparing yourselves to others. Quit making a popularity contest.

. . . if about 15 complainers would quit posting, it would all go away . . .

Opting for what already exists up the road would only perpetuate what you say to quit doing.

Like I always say, I'm not really a UL fan. I'm an outsider even though I was raised here. It just seems that all I see are people who are overly concerned about how other schools perceive them. Or alternatively, people are too concerned with how they compare to others. It's illogical and unproductive.
