From what I can find, the NCAA does not acknowledge P5 and G5 labeling in football.

. . . because the group involved already proclaimed that Louisiana does not play major college football . . . so I am trying to figure out what constitutes major college football to this group . . . surely I would think that LSU is a university which plays major college football and they play teams as low as the SWAC this year, they play a Sunbelt team and they play Alabama who I would believe all would say is major college football . . . this would give anyone claiming that Louisiana does not play major college football a fair representation of all football played to make a dividing line between those who play major college football and those that don't . . . but they are apparently scared to participate other than to demean their own university . . .

True. I think in some years the Cajuns schedule can impact the national landscape but with this year’s schedule there isn’t a single game that impacts the national landscape of the cfb playoff or one of the major 6 bowls. That’s just my personal opinion. Good debate to have though.

I would say that while Vandy hasnt been in major bowl contention, they still have the ability to have an impact based on conference/schedule. Meaning they play teams that do impact the national landscape. So they have an opportunity more so than teams that don’t play a meaningful schedule.

The NCAA has 3 different levels of football:
Division 1, divided into FBS and FCS.

Division 2

Division 3

Each division has its own championship.
If college football was all major college football, there would be only one championship for all college football.
