I've been recommending the Utah MUSS model since I first became aware of it 10 years ago.

Utah "MUSS" went from a nothing burger fan base to one of the best in the country in less than 20 years.

MUSS starts with freshman orientation and membership.

We miss the boat at orientation. My daughter a freshman said all they did was sing the fight when I asked her if anyone from athletics talked to them at orientation.

USM has a losing record with a passionate fan base. Cajuns have a winning record with a commuter fan base. Hooray

There isn't a sports entity in the country college, highschool, or pro that exists without a commuter fan base.

But hey, USM has great home attendance.

I have a kid at USM and overall they do not have good attendance, and now that they are losing the stadium is empty, the boxes are nice but the rest of the stadium is a dump. There are isles that end at walls when you can see the concourse right behind it, the restrooms look like something out of a prison, and the concessions are unedible. The fan base has already given up on Hall and if he didn't have a huge buyout he would probalby be gone after this season. Of course there has been a 6mil anonymous donation which was announced but not specified if it was to athletics or not.
