Marler Takes First-Day Lead at Everett Buick GMC Classic

Louisiana's Jake Marler posted back-to-back rounds in the 60's, recording a 5-under-par 67 in the second round and claiming a one-stroke lead after the first day of the Everett Buick GMC Classic on Monday at Chenal Country Club.

i read the article and was confused about the Weber kid's score--is it not part of the team total? it looks like he shot better than a couple golfers listed above him.

Interesting, 1/2 way through the last round the Cajuns are in 7th place but only 4 strokes out of 1st. Could finish anywhere from 1st - 8th. Gotta finish strong to have a chance.

Matt Weber is playing this tourny as an Individual and his score does not count for or against the Team score. His score yesterday would have helped the Cajun Team yesterday, but he is struggling today and his score, so far, would not be beneficial, at all.

On the flip side, Alford and Keating, both had rough days yesterday and hurt the team score, but both are holding their own today!

Its fracking golf.

The top seven teams are within a few strokes of each other, so today it is going to be back and forth for the leaders until the end!!

1 stroke behind UCA for 2nd. and only 4 strokes behind Troy for 1st. Troy is shooting a -11 today and -13 for the tournament. UL is -5 today and -9 for the tounament.

Its not over, but it appears the tigas got hot this afternoon and went -3 for the day to -11 and is leading by 3 (-18) over Little Rock. (Jay Mendall, son of former UL great, John Mendall, played extremely well today.)

Cajuns are sittting at 6th place at -9 with a few hole to go and are -5 for the day.

Couple of double boogies here and a triple there kinda did us in.

Disappointing, but all in all, these young men play admirable. Hung in there and appeared to battle.

Golf is a very, very humbling game.
