Absolutely put the players' names on the back. All football, baseball, softball, and basketball teams should have them.

Only professional teams IMO should have their names on the back of the jersey.

Because the team matters not the individual. The idea is that they play for something greater than themselves. Having no names on their jersey reinforces the notion that it is a privilege to play at Louisiana.

The names on the back was done for the broadcast teams. Easier to know which player is which faster rather than having to look at a program for the name. Not all teams follow this, but was the main reason.

Go look at an old quarter and newer quarters. Old quarters have President Washington facing "In God We Trust". On new quarters he has his back turned to it.
