NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The third dog attack in seven days on
children in New Orleans required police to use an electroshock
weapon to immobilize the animal.
The Times-Picayune reports that police acted after a pit bull
bit a 6-year-old boy in the thigh in eastern New Orleans Tuesday
night.
Jeb Tate, a spokesman for New Orleans Emergency Medical
Services, says the boy was transported to a local hospital in
stable condition.
Police spokesman Garry Flot said a Taser and a catch-pole were
used to secure the pit bull.
A 5-year-old girl was critically injured after she was attacked
by a pit bull a week ago. Last Thursday, a 7-year-old girl was
injured by a pit bull.
