Sideline Body Language

I think a huge positive for today was the way the team stayed together when things got tough. I pay particular attention to the body language of the players on the sideline throughout the game. It was very positive from each and every player throughout the contest. It was especially so after negative plays. Everyone kept encouraging each other at those times. That attitude is a major reason they pulled it out. Those of you who have been involved in sports either as a coach or player know that you live in the moment. You focus on what do I need to do to have success on the next play regardless of what happened on the previous play. I try to have the same approach as a fan. That is one reason I never look at in game threads during the contest. Too much emotion when things go bad. I try to give positive vibes until we reach a point where the game is out of reach. That would be 3 scores down with limited time remaining. Today we never allowed the Bobcats to take a 3 score lead. That positive body language on the sideline is a big reason why. Staying within striking distance allowed them to win fourth quarter. Note all 3 of our units came through in their last time on the field. Special teams block a punt and cover kickoff well. Defense forces a punt and creates a turnover. Offense scores and then runs out the clock. One of guttiest wins in years occurred today and it would not have happened without that positive body language on the sideline throughout the contest.

Great post but I guarantee you when the team overcomes (like they did yesterday) they are not turning a blind eye to the mistakes. The positive body language is a non verbal means of saying don't give up, get ready for the next play.

Fans, on the other hand have over 2/3 of the actual football game time to analyze the last play while anticpating the next.

Good insight there Turbine. However many fans assume that since something negative has happened, it will continue to happen. I choose not to think that way if I see the team attitude is positive and encouraging. If the body language were poor, I would be more pessimistic.
