. . . crickets . . .
This is, in my opinion, the entire problem.
The admin is all in on season tickets as the main "promotion" to sell tickets. It's the only way to get any value out of UL athletics
1. No couple with kids under 12, have six Saturdays free during soccer/dance/etc season to go to every game
2. UL is not "D1 football". Yes, they obviously are, but they will in no way factor into high level D1 championship discussions. We are minor league baseball.. yet the admin is content with this marketing strategy of "gahhhh-lee! Can you believe it!? We have a D1 team right here in little ole Lafayette, with D1 prices to boot!"
The more apt comparison is probably a Premier League team that is stuck in EFL due to relegation.
The odds of us being that team that magically catches the eye of the P5 fossils and gets invited to the real show, are slimmer than a Freddy's burger patty.
So why not lean into our status? If you're a minor league baseball team then just go nuts.. go Savannah Bananas.. do things that you don't see at other G5 stadiums.
Bring back the wolf of wall street chant.. add the slow clap buildup thing that USMNT soccer teams do.. maybe use the $45k bell for ... something? If you're going to play rap, then play rap that your target demo -- 25-40 year old women-- might actually know the words to..
You think so?
You think stadiums that have 40k+ people in them are filled with single guys and married guys who ducked out for the afternoon?
You know exactly what I'm talking about.. If you're going to play rap, then play rap songs that middle age women will enjoy. Whatever songs they were playing Saturday got ZERO reaction out of the student section, which is who I'm assuming they were supposed to appeal to
They're clueless how to appeal to anyone...
Some of us will disagree I personally don't mind paying for convivence if we give away tailgating spots a couple of things can happen.
Anybody can get a spot could be good or bad.
The normal tailgaters will be turned off and may not go to games then you're losing season ticket holders.
There are tailgaters with tradition that you would take away.
Does anyone on here that agrees with free tailgating have a tailgating spot. Why don't we make everything at the game free, tickets, parking, concessions and tailgating.
In addition to those things:
1) they embraced their history
Ie: conference championship banners under and around the stadium; letter winners highlighted with banners under stadium
2) the music played was played at the right times and football appropriate (got the players and fans going- metal and gangster style rap)
3) concessions moved fast
4) the radio broadcast was audible under the stadium in bathrooms etc.
5) current NFL players were mentioned multiple times during the game (this would help with recruiting and having a "big time" feel
6) people were setup tailgating all over- not just in a central area; it felt more "organic"
Nothing major but alot of little things that added to the GameDay experience
