It’s bad…and a serious problem. It will never happen but they need to go back to the old parking/tailgating ways. That won’t fix it overnight but it will slowly rebuild the organic growth we once had.

Let’s look at it a different way.

Why do people attend football games or sporting events ?

Is it just for football ?

Is it to have a good time?

Is it to be Social?

I would argue more fans are coming to be Social!

So make it as social as possible .

Simply put, few people in this area care about the Cajuns at this time. Many reasons but one is they don’t really have a chance to play for major bowls. Today people don’t pay Attention to something that is not considered significant nationally. That is true through much of G5. Focus on here, how do we get them to care. It must be recognized it is a very challenging situation. We have to win at an extremely high level and double our marketing efforts. The student administration also needs to be repaired. I don’t know how to do that but it should become the top priority of the athletic administration.

IMO, i think TV coverage impacts our attendance more than we think. Pulled up right at 2:30, and there were tons of people watching on tv in TG area. Something needs to be done to bring back students! Us old guys need someone to carry the torch.

Don’t know if this is a reason but may be a small part of it. Softball and baseball can hang nationally with the big boys and girls and routinely take them on every season. At the end of the season they play in a national tournament (basketball once or twice a decade). Football ultimately has no shot at the moment. They play nobodies in a conference no one cares about. When they do go to a bowl it’s a crap bowl against a crap team that you would be equivalent in finding on the regular season schedule. One that would attract the same size crowd of 15k. Snooze fest.

I walked over to our RV spot from the Cajundome yesterday after the basketball scrimmage and there was ONE RV along the fence on congress. ONE!!! The RV lot is fricking dead. Maybe 10 total.

Put the stage, food trucks, vendors, tents, chairs, a band and everything in between in the RV area!

Definitely have some talent. Inside game will not be the same. Think we will play more up tempo this year. I’m excited for the season.
