Do you think the results would be similar to his first stint?

Probably not, answer is "No"! Billy had way more resources, ($$$, larger staff, and didn't have to worry as much about his players bailing out on him and transferring out as Mike does here at UL). Things were a lot different when Billy was here. He didn't have to worry about the NIL Deals and the Transfer Portal.

No, he will not have Levi Lewis

Brian Kelley hoping he gets fired... Some reports of a 53.3 million buyout

So? Billy's main attributes were his ability to recruit and attract talent here as well as hire good staff. He made some great hires, particularly on the defensive side of the ball that allowed us to be able to compete with bigger schools. I agree that I don't particularly like his playcalling either but he was able to build something here.

There’s a list of reasons the results would be different. Having a stable QB is a big one.

We may have a stable QB in either Lunch or Howard, but without the right coaching and play calling, we have a problem. It appears our best QB coach is coaching TE's and who knows who our best play caller is, but I don't think it is Des. He is following the Napier playbook and it is not working for him.

We need Napier to bring back stability to this program.

If I were the athletic director at UL, my first call without hesitation would be to Billy Napier. I’d ask him to return as a consultant, someone who could immediately elevate the program’s trajectory. Depending on how the Desormeaux situation unfold whether Des proves to be the long-term answer or not Napier could either support from behind the scenes or seamlessly transition back into the head coaching role. And if the right offer comes along for his next coaching gig, he’d be free to move on with our full respect.

Think of it like Arkansas bringing back Bobby Petrino. Strategic. Smart. Proven.

We’d be foolish not to offer this to Napier. He showed up, leaned in, and made it clear he still respects and enjoys being part of the UL community. That kind of connection doesn’t come around often and we’d be wise to act on it.

    Smart thinking sir.
