I have friends that tailgate at LSU for years. The closer to the stadium they are, they are 3 to 4 times more expensive as UL. Also, my son attended the LSU game last weekend against Arkansas in their corporate suite, he had to park over a mile from the stadium because he was a guest. No one at UL is walking a mile from a on stadium site parking or tailgating site.
I get UL needs to be more proactive than reactive when it comes to game promotions, especially with unused tailgating spots. I don't necessarily disagree with some of the suggestions on this thread. But discounting everything is simply a short-term solution to a long-term problem that will presist because of the lack of revenue.
I don't see cheaper tailgating rates here on this link.

I've said it here in this forum and I will say it again. Administration does not understand ECON 101. We do not have a supply problem. We have a demand problem. At the price points the university is charging for everything, we will always have a demand problem.
