It's simple, a smaller percentage of the population understand the nuances of the game today, than just a few years ago.
If they understood they would find the game much more entertaining, beyond what was on the score board.
That does not mean anyone should like losing.
It's not the play on the field that's boring....it's everything else they shove on you...season after season.... improvements? Of any consequence?
How to pack Cajun Field:
Somehow convince Lafayette that LSU is playing a home game at Cajun Field. They'll be wearing purple and gold, but at least we would sell 50k+ tickets!!
The new stadium will see a boost in attendance because Lafayette always likes to see new stuff. The question if rather or not you will keep them coming back will depend on their new stadium experience.
The current situation is old and stale and people have been there and done that. Next year the west side will be demolished and will be miserable. We won’t see fan improvement until 2025 at best.
LSU is playing at 11am, on the road, in a game that most casual "fans' don't care about..
If there was EVER a game for UL to be all-out blitzing Lafayette with an effort to get out to Cajun Field, this would be it.
Unfortunately they'll likely save all their promotions -- pricing and otherwise -- for Southern Miss, and we'll still get 18k fans because most of the city is at soccer/dance practice on a Thursday night.
They could pick up the superdome and bring it to Lafayette. If the university doesn’t fix the foundational problems it has with its support structure, it won’t matter after six months. Just look at basketball.
