We need to be. We are roughly $750k behind the SBC leaders in NIL.

Interest in that basketball is taking the lead in the NIL initiative. The October 12 event will likely sell out. Goal of 150 grand raised is likely to be exceeded. Getting the ex players involved is probably part of the reason for the early success. I know the basketball staff and administration want to bring new people beyond the regular Rebounders folk into this effort. The ex players probably help with that. Also, timing may be a reason basketball is first with this initiative as their season is a few weeks away. I understand football will have events down the road. Their NIL needs are substantial, obviously greater than basketball due to roster numbers. However hard to do while staff and players are so focused on doing what it takes to have a successful season. I bet their event may occur during spring practice.

Let’s be real, if we want to truly compete we will need to be around $500k for the basketball roster.

You probably are right about that. Still have a ways to go but start is encouraging. How the silent auction goes will determine if the Goal for October 12 is exceeded significantly.

I know MBB player Kobe Julien has been promoting this on social media. John said there will be Cajun athletes and coaches present at Drago's during that time. He also said he believes the number of tables remaining for the October 12 event at the Double tree is 6. I believe 200 tables were originally slated to be sold. Encouraging interview all the way around.
Excellent post Mike! One correction; 60 tables max for the event, 8 per table…480 attendees. Drago’s “Sippin’ In The Sunset” Friday’s will alternate teams. Basketball will be the first one on Friday 9/29.

Please note…40% of food and drink sales purchased at the patio window goes to the Collective. INSIDE ORDERS WILL NOT BENEFIT THE ATHLETES. Purchase only at the patio window and OFTEN!!

Thanks for correction. I knew it was 60 tables, not 200. No clue what entered my fingers to make me type that.

His LLC also represents other SBC member programs. Which, isn’t unheard of, but as long as the committee is responsible for fund raising and he is just there to ensure everything is legal in good with it.
