Thread: Andrew Toney in Winning Time

Default Andrew Toney in Winning Time

Pretty cool to see Andrew Toney mentioned in the HBO Series Winning Time. They highlighted his game schooling Norm Nixon and the Sixers sweeping the Lakers in 82.

    Best Cajun basketball player ever!

Great player but not the best ever IMO. Got to give it to Bo Lamar.

I’ll agree also about Toney being the best complete player to ever play here.

I need to finish watching the documentary.

CajunMike is the best mid 60's player in the area.

I'd put Bo ask the best college and Toney the best pro.

Toney vs Lamar is a valid discussion about best guard player. Just best basketball player, neither one. IMHO supported by data input from da Coach.
We sure have been blessed with some fun players to watch. And discuss who was best.

They were completely different types of guards. Like comparing apples and oranges.

I agree.Toney could post up while Bo had more of a long range game. Toney was the more physical.

I played Bo in a game of Horse during a springtime athletic event probably in 78' or 79'. I beat him and have the certificate to prove it. I'll get that piece of paper which he signed and post it.one day when I have the energy to get into the attic and dig it out.

But seriously, we played on an outside goal near Cajun Field. I found out he couldn't make hook shots and the wind was blowing that day. His long range shooting expertise was nullified by the wind gusts. Very cool for me as he begrudgingly signed the certificate. Ha!
