I'm guessing they couldn't have told him that in time before he left, so he could have changed mind and stayed?

They thought he was going to get it with him transferring first time due to death of Coach Looney.

Will any transfer that is not from a Carnegie Tier R1 school meet our admission standards?

That’s actually a really interesting point. Makes total sense.

We can’t live in the portal and survive. Portal players, especially good ones, aren’t free. Have y’all not realized that?
How are the other Sunbelt schools doing it then?

If no changes are made to NIL & the portal, then you can expect turnover in talent to be the norm. It will be no different than what those of us who manage employees experience. You hire staff, invest in them, some stay, and some move on to other opportunties. College football has changed, this coaching staff will need to adapt by using the portal to recruit players or be ready to get left behind.

We are 3rd to last in the SBC in NIL at $281k according to ON3. App St is first at over $900K.

You tell me how they are doing it?

. . . it’s one thing to take a flyer on other peoples problems (which is what Napier was able to do) and another thing to purchase other peoples problems, especially with no money (like CMD must now do) . . . and coincidentally exactly what Napier and others with $$$ did to CMD in his first year at Louisiana when CMD had no money to compete . . .

    https://notredame.rivals.com/news/nc...s%20to%20leave.

. . . Des also has this to deal with which Napier did not have to deal with while at Louisiana . . .

That is your best argument to date, a real hurdle. .

Within reason, the lack of money argument holds little water as it is self induced, but the external factors are out of the schools control.

Desormeaux has retention liabilities (like at whim player movement) that Napier never had to deal with.

Colorado's stadium is not big, esp compared to rest of p5.... they barely make it and barely have 50,000. So to make 15 million per game in tix, is the avg ticket price $300??
