Thread: To Portal or not to Portal ...

If no changes are made to NIL & the portal, then you can expect turnover in talent to be the norm. It will be no different than what those of us who manage employees experience. You hire staff, invest in them, some stay, and some move on to other opportunties. College football has changed, this coaching staff will need to adapt by using the portal to recruit players or be ready to get left behind.

We are 3rd to last in the SBC in NIL at $281k according to ON3. App St is first at over $900K.

You tell me how they are doing it?

. . . it’s one thing to take a flyer on other peoples problems (which is what Napier was able to do) and another thing to purchase other peoples problems, especially with no money (like CMD must now do) . . . and coincidentally exactly what Napier and others with $$$ did to CMD in his first year at Louisiana when CMD had no money to compete . . .

    https://notredame.rivals.com/news/nc...s%20to%20leave.

. . . Des also has this to deal with which Napier did not have to deal with while at Louisiana . . .

That is your best argument to date, a real hurdle. .

Within reason, the lack of money argument holds little water as it is self induced, but the external factors are out of the schools control.

Desormeaux has retention liabilities (like at whim player movement) that Napier never had to deal with.

We can’t live in the portal and survive. Portal players, especially good ones, aren’t free. Have y’all not realized that?
Colorado's stadium is not big, esp compared to rest of p5.... they barely make it and barely have 50,000. So to make 15 million per game in tix, is the avg ticket price $300??

So if the average player ends up going to two or three schools which will have their long term loyalty? Are people like us here on RP supposed to foot the rcaf bills at an even larger percentage as the future former athletes will give less than they already do, if they give at all?

And those numbers mean nothing. You really believe those? There is no way for a website accurately report SBC teams

Because it is just based on their view of how skilled a player is and his market value. THey don't have the NIL contracts with specific players.

. . . any payer of NIL is a dumb if he fails to disclose the NIL paid so he can get the benefit of his bargain . . . I believe 99% of all NIL payments are loudly public . . .
