A missing man case is looking more like a case of foul play. Family members of 39 year old Earl "Bubba" Kidder, Jr. are worried the Opelousas man could be dead after the vehicle he was in, turned up burned.
The father of two left Opelousas Friday March 26th for a fishing trip with two friends. "He called mom on Sunday said the fishing was great, he would see her Monday morning he had a doctor's appointment Monday, didn't show up," said Melissa Brown, Kidder's sister. Four days after that phone call, a burned vehicle is discovered in the Sherburne Wildlife Management area near Krotz Springs. Friends told authorities he took the car just before he vanished.
Brown fears the worst, but is desperate to know for sure. 'Not knowing, you think the worst. He lives with Mom, Mom's sick he always checks up on Mama, he always checks in on his children, this has been nine days. This is just too long," said Brown.
Tuesday, his friend Vanessa Johnson blanketed Krotz Springs businesses with missing persons flyers hoping somebody knows something. The signs are prominently posted with contact numbers, but still nothing. The quest for answers or tips has even expanded to Facebook. "Just get his face out there, somebody had to have seen him at one point. It might be nothing, they might not think that's anything worth repeating but it could be," said Johnson.
The family has been out at the camp, searching on foot. They hope to get search dogs out there soon. Meanwhile the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office continues its investigation. If you have any information call 394-3071.
