. . . it’s not my job to see what is not there . . . I do have confidence that what we saw this weekend is not the best we have . . . it’s up to the coaching staff and roster to adjust and make it the best we have . . . with hope both were somewhat deficient from what they can actually do . . . I believe that is how that works . . .

Blind faith…only one person deserves that. And HE is not employed by UL.

Has there not been a big enough sample size showing that they've struggled to make adjustments in the past?

Wow, I wasn't aware that Desormeaux's coaching staff has played/lost a grand total of 1 game over the course of 2 years.

. . . this is not the NFL . . . rosters change materially every year by graduation and transfers in and out . . . our first game this year was very vanilla in scheme and only showed the minimum necessary to not put the game in jeopardy of losing . . . we stunk up defensively in scheme, play and performance as players and staff on Saturday . . . I have confidence that both players and coaches have room for improvement . . . I wagered on the Cajuns in game 1 and 2 and put a wager that we would win more than 7.5 games this season, but I am not willing to throw out the baby with the bath water this early in the season . . .

I don't disagree with you. Players and coaches can evolve year to year. And I'll even take your point a step further--players and coaches can also grow and develop over the course of a single season. But there's definitely precedent for fans to have their doubts after last season.

. . . precedent says fans posting on this board are the most doubtful fans in the universe . . . and they express it loudly, deservingly or not . . .
