RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. (AP) - Drew Brees is enjoying the perks
of being the Super Bowl MVP.
The New Orleans Saints quarterback played in a pro-am with Jack
Nicklaus, was invited to play with Arnold Palmer - he had to pass
because he was overseas on a USO tour - and will play in the pro-am
before the U.S. Open.
He'll also host the Cox Communications Championship charity golf
tournament in May at Morgan Run in this upscale enclave near San
Diego. That honor was in place before Brees led the Saints over the
Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl.
Brees and his family still spend time in San Diego, where he
played for the Chargers from 2001-2005. Brees says the shoulder
injury that led the Chargers to unceremoniously dump him turned out
to be the best thing that happened to him, because it led to him
signing with the Saints.
