Hud had a been a head coach and was in SEC as assistant. Napier's experience was elite on his resume.

Elite? He was a fired OC, associate head coach over a Colorado State team that went 4-8, and got passed over for the HC job at Arizona State.

Dr. Maggard made a great hire in Billy, but to call his resume elite...

. . . it was more lite than elite . . . never stayed anywhere long enough to learn anything and was fired or about to get fired from the only two OC jobs which he held for very short periods . . .

Think this will be the last time I chime in on this thread, but I think we should actually celebrate making a bowl game last year with CMD. Do any of you understand how difficult his first year as a HC was? Coaching and support staff gutted. College football enters into a brand-new era with NIL/Transfer Portal. Talent lost to portal, graduation, and draft. Not only was he trying to put together his new staff from on-the-field coaches to support roles, he has to go out and try and keep the wheels on the bus with recruiting. During CBN's tenure, university checkbooks were open. Now the checkbook is closed and told to operate within our means. Go into the season, OL decimated by injury and a QB room without LL1.

Now we have some stability and continuity. We're 1-1 with all of our goals still in front of us. Let's wait until we get further into the season to judge the guy. How degrading is it for a guy that has faced all that adversity and still showed us some success, not to mention wore the uniform for us, be called a budget hire and in over his head two weeks into the season.

Threads like this don't surprise me because we used to have calls to fire Robe too.

Barring being caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl, CMD is our coach for at least two more years. Regardless of the validly of any concerns about having hired him in the first place, this never ending wringing of hands is utterly pointless and completely counterproductive.

There is a time for this, and it’s not 1.2 seasons into his tenure.
