. . . a hurdle Napier did not have to deal with while here . . .
Winning takes care of everything!
Just win baby!
Geaux Cajuns!!!
I don't know if Napier attendance should ever be used as a comparison to the norm.
"Stay home" was officially the word, followed by personal questions like "should we venture out? " was the mantra of Napier's tenure.
For many, returning to norm was not as simple as flicking a switch.
Holy crap .. 4 more years.. That would entrench the football program basically in the same spot as basketball.
Committed to trying to be bowl eligible, bringing 15k fans, and on a path to Arkansas State status.
Then we can all reminisce about the old days when were Top 25 for a couple seasons.
The coach -- just as much as a new stadium, flashy recruiting class, etc -- drives interest in the program from the public. We hired 'same old same old' with a headset, and if this season is a failure, especially with our pathetic schedule, continuing to be committed to this staff is just confirmation to the fans that the school is perfectly fine giving football the Marlin treatment
He’s not going anywhere, nor does he deserve to even be talked about being fired. ODU has a really tough offense to prepare for. We obviously didn’t do enough to get prepared.
Half of the big plays we were out of position when the ball was even snapped. But the offense, aside from 3 series, looked better than it has over the last two years.
This is a new week, UAB throws the ball a lot as well, let’s see how we responds.
And I'm not saying we should be talking about firing him in week 3 of his second year... but the idea that he gets 5 years of rope is lunacy to me, if you belive the school is serious about having the kind of football program that lifts all boats for athletics
I don’t doubt what you say at all. However, that does not take away from the validity of his point. The idea that the administration would hypothetically be ok with 5 full years of being in the SBC basement before making a change is insanity.
Of course like everyone else, I am hopeful that Des can figure it out and take us to even greater heights than we saw under BN, making this entire conversation seem foolish in hindsight.
