But we were told this week that this was the best Defense we've had here. I noted that 2021 and 2020 were likely the best defense at least in the last 20+ years and it was called gobbletegook

Big time players make big time plays. It didn't happen when the money was on the line.

Disappointing loss, but here is the deal. I told you guys months ago that the defense was going to go through growing pains this year. They are going to improve.

The offense is fine. We scored nearly as many points on them as Virginia Tech did last week.

It was disturbing to see just how much their up tempo messed us up. That’s coaching.

Hopefully our staff improves this year as well.

ODU is good.

The up tempo was key. They spread us out to run it and then hit big pass plays with the up tempo. They snapped it within a few seconds after the three or four yard gains. Got behind us too easily. The drive before half when they ran it so often really hurt. They spread us out with formations and continually ran it. Looked to me like we may have been expecting pass most of the drive. We adjusted some in second half in run game but not to degree needed. That allowed the big pass plays.
