……a big consideration in all of the playing time and the status of being red shirted……a player can play in 4 games regular season and 2 more for post season and retain a red shirt…..this really comes into play if like a situation last week of a big win! When do you throw away a R-shirt for a few plays?

I believe it is four games total regardless season or post season.

JMV is correct here. You get to participate in a TOTAL of four games without losing your redshirt. Does not matter how many games your team plays.
