The play calling is a bit worrisome, so hoping our play callers get into a groove this week as well. They had to be holding back on the playbook at NWstate so that could have negatively impacted the rhythm of the offensive game to some degree.

FYI, ODU almost lost their stud LB (Jason Henderson #42) in the VT game due to a head hit that was reviewed. I agreed with the call to not eject him, but if they had, he wouldn't have been available this weekend. That dude is special and will be instrumental if ODU has plans to stop of running game. I think he was selected as pre-season D player of the year. He had All America honors last year in a couple of polls.
You will hear this on the podcast when it gets dropped I am sure, but that kid had, wait for it......186 tackles last year.

186, he was 7 short of the NCAA record and he missed the App State game.

…….I just can’t see not taking out the starters after the game is secured……well, besides stats, all conference, and team point rankings….but let the backups play…..the starters don’t get hurt, the backups play under the lights experienced, gives the staff (and Ragin pagers….lol) a chance to evaluate some live action and video…..and obviously the coaches can deem it necessary that The starter needs the snaps to get him to a needed performance level!….a reason they are called coach!

On offense, Ben needed the extra snaps along with the OL, WRs, TEs and RBs. I would also say secondary needed the reps because most of them were back-ups last season.

The other problem is they miss Johnny Lumpkin as a blocker on the edge at the H. He was simply like having another OL in the run game. Johnson and Carter are Y's, they are not good blockers and there were to many missed assignments with both. Migl is their best blocker at TE.

The backs need to get better at picking up the stunts as well; Washington, Perry and Kubodi all need to get better. Terrance Williams was the best blocking back in this game by far.
…….So we need to be more “Twitchey” in some areas! …….word of the year, love it and so well describes some things!

    No dude

I am at every basketball and football game
I wanna win and whatever gives us our best chance

These types of forums are mainly for people that give opinions

A few like to mock me because basketball didn’t make it to the Sweet 16 however, if people know the sport of basketball, they would realize that the team was a sweet 16 caliber team

    Anyway .. onto work

Second, he didn't participate in summer workouts either. When you consider the amount of throwing to receivers in repetitions he's missed, that is quite a large number of reps he has missed.

Thirdly, he wasn't supposed to have been cleared to begin practice until September and he began practice once cleared medically a month ahead of schedule. Also wearing a yellow jersey early in fall practice is nothing like playing in a real game once the whistle is blown.

Considering all the above facts, and the play of the OL, TE's and RB's lack of blocking in the game, he was indeed off platform at times. But he did throw 3 really nice deep balls for scores. Do I think he will develop much more as a 5-year senior, no. Do I think he will improve his throws and mechanics, yes assuming his teammates do a better job of blocking and catching the football.

As for your assessment of Zeon and Fields, I do believe that Zeon will eventually play some snaps this season, either because of injury or out of necessity.

As for Fields, love the guy but things weren't better with him last year. While he had some success in the bowl game, they moved him in the pocket the majority of the time because he can't see over the line. And he is not as good of runner as Woolridge and Chriss, we can put that to rest now.
Well said. CF also had his chance as a starter. As I remember, he was eventually benched for BW. Before the start of that season, I was in CF's corner. I thought he was the best QB on the field. Every time he came in to relieve Levi, he came in slinging the ball and moving the offense. Again, even though his playing time was on a very limited basis, he appeared to be ready to go and had a full grasp of the offense. Fast forward to the following year after Levi had graduated, CF was named the starting QB. I was on his band wagon. However, in all the games he played, he looked like a deer in headlights, who didn't have a clue of how to run the offense nor a command of the offensive playbook. So, I was wrong about CF. I knew after BW was injured and CF started the bowl game, the chances of winning were slim to none. CF is not a college QB. And I hope we don't have to go through that again.

The coaching will never be good enough to get us to the Sweet 16.

Yet, if we don’t have lose those 2 fumbles we win.

CF had the same amount of TD’s passing despite 62 less attempts. The same amount of rushing TD’s and the same amount of INTs. The yards per pass were less than a yard difference.

They are essentially the same QB. Acting like BW is some phenom, when he hasn’t shown to be one is silly. They are both decent QBs. I’d be willing to bet, both will have significant time this season.

Well, I never insinuated BW is some phenom. But he is head and shoulders above (no pun intended) CF. And I know you don't know me, but I was so much in CF corner for him to be the starting QB last year. Met him. He is a friend of my nephew's. Guy is an awesome person. No one was rooting for him more than me, except for him and his family. But he looked completely lost and overwhelmed once he became the starter. Not sure why, but he had lost that confidence and cockiness he had when subbing for Levi. He might have them back now, but he did not in the bowl game. Hopefully, BW just wins baby. Doesn't have to be pretty, but just win. All Levi did was win. And yet people crucified him on this board because of who knows? If Ben can just win, that is all that matters. And the rest of this will be a mute point, or as Joey says a moo point.

Not completely true. Coaches knew Jake was best QB on team as a freshman. They simply hoped to redshirt him. When the 3 other guys threw 5 picks in the first half of Game 1 in 1993, they knew they had no choice but to play Jake. I am reading the book on Louie Cook right now. That is story Coach Cook relays in book.
