Thread: Attendance Study ...

Attendance figures were "estimated" for most of the history of Cajun Field. I wouldn't place much faith in the accuracy of those numbers.

The 'dropoff' happened after we decided to monetize the parking lot.

Back in my day Dean Blanco used to allow the frat boys to roll up to the stadium with sofas and kegs in the back of their pick-up trucks.

In fact, when Herbie Schilling had leftover beer in the Budweiser 'tap' trucks, those trucks rolled onto campus after lunch and Blanco was there to help hand out the beer.

Pitchers used to be $3 in the student union after lunch. Now that we have 'sanitized' the college experience for students (and the general public) the whole game day experience sucks.

Just my opinion, but if you are old enough to die for your country you ought to be old enough to grab a $3 pitcher in the union.

Cajun Field used to be a whole lot more fun. And so was college.

Does anyone know the exact year we started doing this that made the most people mad?

There was certainly plenty of room for that in front of Cajun Field after Authement and Blanco hired Jerry Baldwin. Roll up and have your pick off anywhere on the entire block to set up sofas and BBQ pits.

Once you finish, how close is it to the 1 million fan entering CF....I smell huge promotion every bit as huge as CF 50th anniversary or the flying of the championship banner....what? Oh, never mind...

Thanks for this. Looks like they've only been consistently in the 20k+ range during Hud's early years.

7000 season tickets sold. Let that sink in. And people are worried about "the brand".

. . . Louisiana is about an 18,000 football fan university absent some type of anomaly . . . it is what it is . . .

    With no promotion.

They are aiming low now, to show a massive increase with the upgraded stadium.
