I was asked my opinion and I gave it based on attending games on multiple campuses. No need for your thesis. These baby steps as you call them is the university doing what it can to add anything they can before the stadium rebuild. If they didn't do anything and just waited, people would complain about that.
Speaking of that bar people want, you writing a check to design and build? You do realize it's on a hill so would need major foundation work. Also would need to be ADA compliant while not taking away from exit walkways for Fire Marshal regulations. If you have a few million laying around, I'm sure they'll take that idea and run with it.
I agree with you on the paid parking inside the gate. However, how are we collecting this money? How are we dealing with the traffic back up that will happen? This includes hiring more workers to man each gate collecting (card only obviously) and more security to handle traffic flow.
I'm not blaming anyone, just pointing out the fact that some complainers will never be happy with anything the university does.
Brainstorming ideas to enhance gameday experience isn’t complaining. It’s brainstorming. Coming up with ideas to make the parking lot full to change the perception of how activity looks is a good thing. Making sure our mobile tickets scan is a good thing.
I understand that change can be scary, but it also welcomes a ton of opportunities.
. . . let’s just call this CP and let it rip . . .
I’m sorry, but there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent parking from backing up. If everything was as successful as we could hope to be and we get 60-70,000 people out to tailgate and half of those go in the games. You don’t think parking will be backed up? Get out of here with that nonsense excuse.
You want a solution? Go see Chick Filet. Get more people with scanners at each gate. Have the traffic come deeper into the parking area to have multiple scanners. Park lost D & E simultaneously with two lines.
Holy hell Batman, I just solved the parking back up issue. Took me 5 minutes.
Also, the gates open at 08:00, ideally those lots would be full no later than 15:00.
Then overflow parking for the late arrivals can go to the parking areas across congress.
Simple solution.
We had our lowest attended game in 2 decades last year against a top tier conference opponent coming off the heels of our winningest season in program history. Our fans are looking for things to complain about the same way the guy who cleans port-a-johns has to sniff to find out where the _____ is located.
