That would be my guess as well. I don't think the Texas schools want any part of Texas State. The question is would GSU take the offer. AAC could stand pat as well.
If GSU bolts, the question becomes who do you add to the East? I mean, teams you could reasonably get (I don't think East Carolina fits that statement).
That's the question. Getable teams for us right now are anyone in CUSA and UMASS and maybe Army.
Suppose GSU leaves. That's a huge market loss. What will ESPN say? Given the above list, if you can get Army, you get them(arkstfan said its possible). After that, if ESPN says we need another huge market to make the numbers work, the getable market school is FIU. If market is not a concern, and Army says no, the only getable schools that I would want right now are Liberty or WKU. Liberty has better programs and more money, but WKU offers a new state for the media deal.
AS for the AAC, don't rule out a northern expansion. The MAC contract is coming up for negotiation. If ESPN thinks there are a few schools worthy of an upgrade, it could happen. NIU? Buffalo? Could also be used as a ploy to get Army.
Don’t ever forget this will be in play at some point.
This is my last post on this subject. Time to start prepping for tomorrow.
If Georgia State leaves, don't sleep on Kennesaw State. And, before some of you throw a fit, remember when we added App and Georgia Southern? Some of you were suicidal. This would be very much the same. I would rather WKU, but, trust me, Kennesaw State will be in our league one day.
I have to agree with Esque' on this one. Maybe not UTSA but UAB. Or let's shore up basketball and get WKU back.
UMass makes no sense and we don’t want them….if we add a replacement for Ga State it should be liberty or WKU…. If you decide to go fcs I would say William and Mary for the east. Right now the only fcs that makes since in the west would be Missouri State. Ideally we should go after ECU and Memphis.
